SCOPE OF APPLICATION
Duayen EA-911 fire paint is a product suitable for use in all fire-hazardous areas, in all structures with industrial fire hazards, factories, and homes.
APPLICATION
For the protection of structural steel, attention should be paid to the thickness of the product and the A/V (Hp/A or Sectional Area) value of the relevant steel element, according to the desired fire resistance time. The A/V value of a steel element is an expression of its ability to absorb heat. The higher the ratio of profile area to mass, the faster the heat is absorbed and the higher the A/V factor.
You can quickly obtain the A/V (Area/Volume) value from the steel manufacturers' data sheets, and contact the Doyen Technical Department for help and determination of thicknesses.
Duayen EA 911 is applied to clean, dry, primed steels. Duayen EA 911 should be applied over a compatible primer. Primer compatibility tests were performed on a single and two separate packaged product available. Due to their poor performance in fire conditions, zinc-rich primers require a bonding coat prior to application of the intumescent coating; bituminous and chlorinated rubber linings are not suitable for this situation. If the steel is already coated with an existing primer, contact DUAYEN Technical Service before applying Duayen EA 911. Contact DUAYEN Technical Service for a complete list of approved primers.
Duayen EA 911 normally does not need extra coating, but when a protective paint is needed for corrosive environments such as C3, C4, C5, Duayen A-325 FR aliphatic polyurethane paint can be used to protect both the steel and the coating appropriately for protection from external factors. Special colors can be selected in RAL codes for this top protective coating.
Steel elements should be cleaned by sandblasting to ISO 8501-1 or SSPC-SP10 SA2 ½ prior to application. After sandblasting, it is necessary to proceed to the coating process without waiting for more than 4 hours on the steel. During the application, it must be ensured that the minimum ambient temperature is 10°C, the relative humidity in the environment is 80% or lower, and the surface temperature of the steel elements to be coated is at least 3°C above the dew point in the coating area.
Duayen EA 911 can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Diluting the paint is not recommended. Since diluting the paint will increase the fluidity of the paint, sagging may occur. Mix mechanically before use. When applied with a brush, brush marks will be evident in the finish. This is acceptable if the surface is at a very unseen spot or if it is not possible to see the surface. Spreading provides a more acceptable flat texture and spray application provides a smooth flat finish that is highly decorative. Doyen EA 911 has been developed to provide a perfect surface.
