DC Ballasbond 17 - Ballosbond Stone Adhesive

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Special Ballast resin for bonding. Binder used to hold harbor seaside stones, ballast stone structures of rails, mining and loose rock stones together.


SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Strengthening the ballast by gluing aggregates without impairing the drainage capacity,

Improving the positional stability of highly loaded gravel along railway tracks, e.g. at lane crossings, bends,

Protection of gravel shoulders and track renewal during conversion works,

It is used for bonding and sealing gravel and divided surfaces to increase load capacity, resist plant growth or color.

APPLICATION

DC-Ballast adhesive 17 is a two-component reaction resin that reacts to a solid, rigid-elastic resin body. In contact with water, the DC-Ballastbond 17 foam effect sticks. Foaming effect does not affect DC 17 balastond adhesion. Reactivity can be controlled by adding a catalyst.


Preparation

Before implementation, the construction must be prepared according to technical standards and regulations. The DC ballastbond 17 to be connected is clean and free of any contaminants.


To mix up

DC-Balastbond 17 consists of two components, component A (base) and component B (hardener). Both should be mixed homogeneously before application.

The components are mixed at the head of the two-component injection pump using the appropriate static mixer. The required mixing quality is achieved using helix mixers over a mixing length of 30 cm.


Application

Application should be done with a two-component injection pump with sufficient capacity.

The Ballastbond 17 mixture is evenly sprayed onto the aggregate surface with a spray. Sprayer should be airless with a closed nozzle. The distance to the ballast aggregate surface should not be more than 20 cm.

The spray head should be optimized for field conditions (Ballastbond 17 temperature, spray width). The amount of application per m² depends on the penetration depth given in the technical specification.

The application of DC Ballastbond 17 should be stopped if the water surface temperature is < 5 °C and > 40 °C, on the surface of continuous rain and wet gravel.


Acceleration of reactivity

Reaction time can be changed with Duayen catalyst 21 accelerator (amount added up to 1% based on component A)


Machine Cleaning

In case of interruption of work, the resin pot life axis should be thoroughly cleaned with the injection pump Duayen PU cleaner (fine). Partially or fully cured material can only be removed mechanically.
